Degree Project: thoughts/ideas

Potential proposals for the Eldorado/KU team on our (morgan and I) role in this project.

  • Designing a system to connect the architects and the community to ensure the entire project is a more collaborative effort.

  • To brand the neighborhood and give a voice to the residents in the community.

  • Organizing all information gathered from the residents in this area to create a data bank for the architects to draw inspiration and knowledge from to inform their designs.

Degree Project Question: Final Take

How can I tell the story of Manheim's past and present collaboratively with the residents in this neighborhood, to educate the architects designing for this area on a higher level influencing their design decisions?

Degree Project Question: take 2

How can I tell the story of Manheim's past and present collaboratively with the residents in this neighborhood, to educate the architects designing for this area on a higher level to instill true understanding.

My dreams include many different categories.
I have a passion for design anthropology, doing in depth case studies and story telling.
I also like to teach art and design to kids and see that as something I would like to do as well.
Getting deeply involved in community movements and projects is something I will be doing in my future as much as possible.

The King of Kings County

It confuses me a little bit because I have to look up what is fiction in this book and what is not. It's clear that the setting is in Kansas City, the map makes a match, however the characters names, I now know are fictional but representative of groups of individuals he's commenting on.

interesting, and still continuing to read

Project H

Project H Design
I learned about Emily Pilloton on The Colbert Report, who brought a few revolutionary inventions made to empower people all over the world. I saw one of the inventions previously but never looked too into it. The website shows a number of useful tools they have created.

Research: SC

I thought this Story Corps Interview was pretty awesome.

Research: Community artist H.Fletcher

Looking through Harrell Fletcher's site I found one of his proposals The Good Life to be one of my favorites by him. He would transform a bus stop and a phone kiosk into a puppet theater with puppets attached for the public to create their own shows. The theme is based on two people he admires making the community piece also personal and something he desires to create on many different levels. Fletcher also wishes to use eco-friendly methods and incorporate a blueberry plant for the public to care for. I hope this project will be, or has been approved and funded.
